Travellers and residents returning from Europe and Asia are urged to check their luggage for brown marmorated stink bug after the pest was found in the luggage of a traveller returning to NSW.

The stink bug is an exotic pest that could cause major damage to agricultural crops, nursery stock and ornamental plants.

It likes to ‘hide and ride’ in imported luggage, household effects, goods, cargo and shipping containers, so transport businesses, producers and residents should also be on the lookout.

If you think you’ve seen a brown marmorated stink bug, whether it’s dead or alive, capture it in a jar, take a photo, and report the location to Biosecurity Queensland.

Know what to look for.
