About the course

Varroa Basics is a short online course designed to provide beekeepers with an introduction to varroa.

What you’ll learn

The course will cover the life cycle and symptoms of the mite, as well as detection, spread, monitoring, and integrated pest management techniques. It is intended for beekeepers in regions where varroa has not yet been detected in hives or for those who have experienced recent detections. It is suitable for community groups with an interest in beekeeping or pollination.

  • Monitoring, treatment, and reporting

Funding acknowledgement

The National Varroa Mite Management Program is overseen by the Consultative Committee on Emergency Plant Pests (CCEPP) and the National Management Group (NMG). The NMG is made up of representatives from the Federal Government, every state and territory department and executives from relevant peak industry bodies and Plant Health Australia.
