About the course

Biosecurity means different things to different people but can be summarised as the management of risks to the economy, the environment and the community, of pests and diseases entering, emerging and establishing or spreading. This course is for anyone interested in plant biosecurity, particularly those working in biosecurity or agriculture, and would like to know more about the protection systems in place and how responses are managed.

What you’ll learn

This course provides an overview of plant biosecurity in Australia. It also explains how emergency responses to plant pests are managed under the Emergency Plant Pest Response Deed.

Course content

By completing this course you will gain an understanding of:

  • the structure and key participants in the Australian biosecurity system
  • preparedness work designed to protect Australia’s plant resources
  • the key elements of biosecurity emergency response management
  • the fundamentals of Emergency Plant Pest responses.

To access this training, you will need to log in to the Biosecurity Online Training (BOLT) learning management platform. Access is free and available to anyone with an interest in biosecurity. If you are not already a member, then you will need to register and create a new account.
