About the course

This free online course provides information about the Sheep and Goat electronic identification (eID) requirements in New South Wales (NSW).

eID for sheep and goats is an enhancement to the existing mob-based system as part of the National Livestock Identification System (NLIS).

What you’ll learn

NSW is currently transitioning to mandatory individual electronic identification for sheep and goats.

After completing this course you will: 

  • Know about the basic requirements of NLIS for sheep and goats
  • Understand the changes to NLIS requirements for sheep and goats in NSW. 
  • Gain a better understanding of what you need to do to prepare and implement the changes, and when.

Following the introductory course, additional interactive online training modules are also available for sheep and goat owners, saleyards, stock and station agents, and processors.

These will enable you to:

  • Understand any sector specific changes and timeframes
  • Know where to seek further information and assistance regarding the implementation of eID in NSW.

Course content

This course has 5 key modules, one core overview module and 4 sector specific modules. You can complete any of the modules.

  • Core Module: Introduction
  • Sector Specific Module: Livestock Owners
  • Sector Specific Module: Processors
  • Sector Specific Module: Agents
  • Sector Specific Module: Saleyards.
