About the course

The National Biosecurity Response Team (NBRT) Functional Awareness course provides an overview of the roles and responsibilities of the key functional areas within an Incident Management Team (IMT) during a biosecurity response.

Designed to build cross-functional understanding and collaboration, this course explores how the Control, Planning, Operations, Logistics and Public Information functions work together to support an effective response. It also provides insight into the day-to-day responsibilities and operational realities of each function.

What you’ll learn

By completing this course you will be able to:

  • describe the roles and responsibilities of the key Incident Management Team functions
  • explain how the functions work together during a biosecurity response
  • recognise the day-to-day needs and operational realities of each function
  • understand how cross-functional collaboration supports an effective response.

  • Planning
  • Public Information
  • Logistics
  • Operations.
