About the course

This short course introduces the concepts of working in an emergency response, biosecurity hygiene and two priority Emergency Animal Diseases (EAD); Foot-and-mouth disease and Lumpy skin disease.

At the end you will learn the importance of a rapid, structured and effective response. Once you have completed all required elements, you will be able to print a Certificate of Achievement.

What you’ll learn

  • How to ensure you are well prepared and understand your roles and responsibilities in responding to a biosecurity emergency
  • The principles, structure and processes of the Australiasian Inter-serve Incident Management System (AIIMS)
  • How to visit farms in a safe biosecure manner
  • The risk and impact foot-and-mouth disease and lumpy skin disease can have on the farming industry and what is being done to reduce that risk
  • What happens in the event of a national livestock standstill in the event of foot-and-mouth disease being confirmed or strongly suspected.

Course content

The course contains 6 modules and related resources. Once you have completed all required elements, you will be able to print a Certificate of Achievement.
