This course gives you the knowledge required to wear the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during emergency management activities and the procedures taken to decontaminate yourself prior to leaving a biosecurity incident site.

What you’ll learn

This course is for anyone required to wear the necessary PPE during emergency management activities and the procedures taken to decontaminate yourself prior to leaving a biosecurity incident site.

It will take approximately 1 hour to complete depending on your previous knowledge and understanding.

This course including the practical assessment will need to be completed before entering a contaminated site.

Course content

After completing this module you will be able to:

  • Describe the risks involved in responding to biosecurity or natural disaster events
  • Understand where Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) fits into the Hierarchy of Control
  • Understand the PPE requirements for responding to emergency management events
  • List the various types of PPE you may be required to use in a response
  • Describe the personal decontamination process for property visits
  • State how contaminated items are disposed of after a site visit.

The module uses scenarios and quizzes to highlight and consolidate the participant’s learning.

Course accreditation/certificate

At the completion of this training module there will be a certificate of completion that may be printed.
