About the course

Giant pine scale is a tiny scale insect which originated in the forests of Greece and other Mediterranean countries including Turkey and Italy. It feeds on the sap of pine, fir and spruce trees, causing trees to dry up and eventually die. Dead branches and trees can pose a risk to people, structures and properties if left unmanaged.

This course is designed to help community members and arborist businesses to recognise Giant Pine Scale. It provides information to prevent the spread and report detections.

What you’ll learn

Learn how to recognise Giant Pine Scale, what you can do about it to prevent further spread, and how report detections on your property.
